Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends: Stan Lee

MARVEL LEGENDS:

STAN LEE

Today we will be taking a look at the one, the only, Stan “The Man” Lee. Stan co-created numerous popular fictional characters, including superheroes Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Ant-Man.

The Marvel Legends Series is a Lower tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in. With multiple scales ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches and a good mix of detail and articulation, these figures tend to look good both inside and outside of the box.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Stan comes in a box very similar to the one that was used last year for Marvel’s 80th anniversary.

The front of the box has a nice clean look to it, on the top right over the box you have the Marvel Legends logo. Stan Lee himself is clearly displayed in the middle, along with all his accessories. We also have Stan’s signature in the middle of the window. This window is perfect for anyone who wants to keep the figure mint inbox. At the bottom of the box, we have the Marvel Logo and Stan Lee’s name.

Turning the box to the side we have Stan’s favorite word, EXCELSIOR running down the box with Stan’s signature at the end.

On the back of the box, we have a nice picture of Stan, along with the 1st Avengers movie poster.

Flipping the box around one more time we have the same EXCELSIOR word running down the side with Stan’s signature.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Stan out of the box we can see that the base of the body is one that has been used many times before.

Taking a closer look at Stan’s head we can see that Hasbro did an amazing job. It looks just like Stan.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5

Paint job is perfect on Stan. the phot real paint that Hasbro has been using on the figures now really makes them look like the character or person they are making.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5

The sculpt on the body is something that Hasbro has used many times before, but it really works for Stan. The sculpt on the head is perfect.

POSING 5/5

Just about any pose that you would want to get Stan into works.

ACCESSORIES: 4.5/5

The shield is nice but it would have been nice to get a chair he could sit in or a pen that he could use to sign his name. Even a chessboard that opened up would have been nice.

DURABILITY 5/5

The plastic is strong and doesn’t feel like it’s going to be breaking down any time soon.

OVERALL SCORE 4.9/5

If you are a comic fan, an MCU fan, or even just a fan of art itself then you need to pick him up. Stan for a lot of us made our heroes and he will be missed.
